Germany. Berlin Cathedral (Berliner Dom). Temple inaugurated in 1905. It was built by order of Emperor Wilhelm II (1859-1941) between 1894 and 1905, under the direction of German architect Julius Carl Raschdorff (1823-1914). Also known as the Evangelical Supreme Parish and Collegiate Church, it is a monumental German Protestant church and dynastic tomb (House of Hohenzollern). Statue of Christ blessing the city of Berlin, atop the main facade. Sculpted in copper by Fritz Schapper (1841-1919). Above it stands a cross adorned with angels on either side.
