Pines on the gulf coast. 1889. Oil on cardboard. Ivan Ivanovich Shishkin (1832-1898). Russian painter, draughtsman and engraver. Returning to Russia from Germany, he finally found his style and acquired the name of the 'forest king'. The sketch of 'Pines on the gulf coast', made on the shore of the Baltic Sea, differs from Shishkin’s programmatic works due to its simplicity and lack of exact details. State Historical and Art Museum 'New Jerusalem'.
