Chain. Sweden or Holland. First third of the 17th century. Moscow Kremlin Museum. The chain was first mentioned in the treasury inventory in 1640. Researcher I.A. Bobrovnitskaya correlates it with the gift of the Dutch ambassadors presented to Tsarevich Alexei Mikhailovich in 1630-1631. Legend: among the regalia sent to Vladimir Monomakh from Byzantium, there was a chain forged from Arabian gold. For the first time, a specific item was correlated with a legendary one in the inventory of 1776-1778. After this, the chain stored in the museum was considered the ""chain of Prince Vladimir Monomakh"" throughout the 19th century.
