Reception at the Palace of Fath Ali Shah on the Feast of Nowruz. Muhammad Ali (active first half of the 19th century). Iran. 1834. Oil on canvas. State Museum of Oriental Art, Moscow. The painting is a copy of a lost fresco from the Nigarestan Palace near Tehran. The original mural depicted 118 members of the Shah's family, courtiers and European diplomats attending a reception to celebrate the Iranian New Year.
