Jean-Baptiste Carrier (1756-1794). French revolutionary and politician, most notable for his bloody actions in the War in the Vendee, during the Reign of Terror (1793-1794). After the fall of Robespierre's government, Carrier was tried for war crimes by the Revolutionary Tribunal, found guilty and guillotined at the Place de Greve in Paris on 16 December 1794. Portrait.
