Georges Danton (Georges Jacques Danton) (1759-1794). French lawyer and politician in the French Revolution, one of the first leaders of the Jacobin Club. In March 1793 Danton participated in the creation of the Revolutionary Tribunal. He died at the guillotine on 5 April 1794, accused of being an ""enemy of the Republic"". From 2 to 4 April 1794, Danton was tried before the Revolutionary Tribunal. Danton appealed to the court about his patriotism and the injustice of his trial until he was ordered to remain silent.
