Camille Desmoulins (1760-1794). French journalist and politician, prominent figure during the French Revolution. Despite his radicalism he criticised extreme violence during the Reign of Terror. Desmoulins was arrested on 31 March 1794 and imprisoned in Luxembourg Prison (Luxembourg Palace in Paris), sentenced to death by the Revolutionary Tribunal and executed by guillotine on 5 April.
