Johann Caspar Lavater, also Johann Kaspar Lavater, (born 15 November 1741 in Zurich, died 2 January 1801 in Zurich), was a reformed Swiss pastor, philosopher and writer during the Age of Enlightenment, as well as a leading representative of physiognomy, colored woodcut from Crabbe's Historical Dictionary from 1825, historical, digital reproduction.
