Fuzhou, Fujian province, China. Pagoda Anchorage in Mawei harbour, on the outskirts of the city of Fuzhou. The Battle of Fuzhou or the Battle of the Pagoda Anchorage took place at this place on 23 August 1884. The French squadron under Admiral Courbet destroyed almost the whole of the Fujian Fleet.
