Antonio Perez del Hierro (1540-1611). Councilor of State and Secretary of the Chamber of King Philip II of Spain. Antonio Perez receiving his family after the torment. Antonio Perez is depicted prostrate in an armchair, covered with a blanket, being visited by his dejected wife, Juana Coello, and his children. The episode took place in Madrid in 1590, after suffering torture in which he confessed his involvement in the death of Juan de Escobedo (1530-1578).
