Simon Bolivar (1783-1830). Venezuelan military and political figure, known as El Libertador (The Liberator). Sculptural group, in bronze and marble, that the Venezuelan consuls abroad dedicated to the memory of Bolivar on the occasion of the Centennial Celebration, July 24, 1883. Bolivar is shown carried on the shoulders of four allegorical statues, representing the Love of the Fatherland, Liberty, the emancipated South America and Slavery. On the sides of the statue there are two winged victories playing the clarion of Fame and proclaiming the exploits of the Liberator of America. Drawing by Nao. Engraving by Vela.
