Jerez de la Frontera, province of Cadiz, Andalusia, Spain. Jerez jail. Group of prisoners accused of complicity in the crimes perpetrated by the anarchist and secret organization called “La Mano Negra” (The Black Hand). This criminal gang acted in Andalusia in 1882 and 1883, amidst class struggle in the Andalusian countryside. Engraving by Bernardo Rico (1825-1894).
