Marina Mercante espanola (Spanish Merchant Navy). The new steamer “Manuel L. Villaverde”, built for the Compania Trasatlantica at Lobnitz & Co. shipyard in Renfrew (Scotland) and laid down in 1882. It was designed for navigation in the West Indian seas. It covered the commercial line of the Gulf of Mexico. After the war of 1898 it covered the Spanish Guinea line.
