Madrid, Spain. Vista Alegre Palace or Marquis of Salamanca’s Palace. Main facade. Building located in the Finca de Vista Alegre (Vista Alegre Estate), in Carabanchel Bajo. It was designed between 1834 and 1835 by Martin Lopez Aguado, the works being continued in 1835 by the architect Juan Pedro Ayegui. Because of the abdication and exile of Queen Maria Christina of Bourbon in 1840, the works remained unfinished. After the return of Queen Maria Christina, the construction work continued, entrusted to the architect Narciso Pascual y Colomer (1808-1870), who carried it out between 1844 and 1846. The Marquis of Salamanca acquired the palace in 1859, commissioning new improvement works to the same architect, Narciso Pascual y Colomer, who carried them out between 1859 and 1863. Engraving by Tomas Carlos Capuz (1834-1899). La Ilustracion Espanola y Americana (The Spanish and American Illustration), 1883.
