They are, from left to right: three caps worn for ordinary use by bishops and cardinals); a Cap worn for funeral solemnities; two Ministrants or altar boys in the 15th century; a Canon wearing a cope and amess in the 15th century; a Canon in the 17th century; and a priest wearing a cope and soutanne. The illustration dates to 1882.
