Portrait of George Ellis Wood in naval uniform. Wood joined Royal Indian Marines in 1894, and served as Port Officer and Harbour Master at the Andaman Islands in the early 1900s. Caption on reverse reads: George Ellis Wood RN (Engineer-Commander) joined R Indian Marine 1894. RN Commander 1916. Donor of silver tobacco box made Andaman Jail 1910. Note, written by Marjorie Wood his daughter in ballpoint pen, accompanies the photograph, referring to donation of Indian silver belt and tobacco box.
