The princes in the Tower. Edward V, 1470 to 1483, uncrowned King of England and his brother Richard of Shrewsbury, Duke of York, born 17 August 1473. Lodged in the Tower of London after the death of their father Edward IV by their uncle, the Lord Protector, Richard, Duke of Gloucester, the boys disappeared and were allegedly murdered, Richard then claimed the throne for himself.
