Muse Sarcophagus. 3rd-4th centuries. Marble. Decorated with reliefs depicting the muses of theatre and music, on either side of a central male figure. On the right Erato, Calliope, Thalia, Euterpe and Polyhymnia are represented. On the left, an unidentified muse, Terpsichore, Urania and Melpomene. Both ends are depicted funerary geniuses. Valado dos Frades, Alfeizeriao (Alcobaca, Portugal). Carmo Archaeological Museum. Lisbon, Portugal.
