Treaty of peace, alliance and friendship agreed between King Philip V of Spain and the Duke of Savoy, by which the island and kingdom of Sicily were ceded to the Duke. Philip V secures for his house the succession to the Crown of Spain and the Indies. Concluded at the Congress of Utrecht on 13 July 1713 and ratified in Madrid on 4 August of the same year. Article IX (Great Britain gains economic advantages that end Spain's trade monopoly with its colonies).
