Narahsi?ha emerging from a pillar

Légende

Narahsi?ha, visible from the waist up, emerging from a pillar rendered much like the trunk of a tree. His chest is covered by a golden kavacha (armor) with embossed motifs just below the pectoral muscles. He wears several necklaces and a crown on his head. He is of fair complexion, with fiercely knitted eyebrows, round bulging eyes and sharp fangs. A short curly mane grows around his face, and on his forehead is a prominent Tengalai namam (mark of the forehead of the southern branch of Shri Vaishnavism). In his upper right hand he holds a chakra (discus), in his upper left the shankha (conch), and with his lower hands he tears open the pillar. The foreground is brownish.
