Vishnu holds a decorated shankha

Légende

Four-armed Vishnu holds in his upper right hand a decorated shankha (conch) which he blows, and in his upper left is the chakra (discus). With his lower right hand he blesses the kneeling elephant Gajendra, on whose head is a Vaishnava namam (emblem), and his lower left hand rests on the gada (mace). On his left stands the goddess Sri Devi, with a lotus flower in her right hand. On the right of Vishnu is Garuda, his hands in anjali mudra. In the background are the Trikuta mountains and the lake in which Gajendra is caught by the crocodile. The emaciated elephant’s leg is caught in the fangs of the crocodile and his ribs protrude.
