(7 - 19 August 1997) --- Wearing a head band representing the Manipulator Flight Demonstration (MFD) hardware several feet away in the open cargo bay of the Space Shuttle Discovery, astronaut N. Jan Davis, payload commander, performs MFD operations at the experiment's work station. This flight of the MFD is in preparation for the Japanese Experiment Module (JEM) Remote Manipulator System (RMS) Small Fine Arm (SFA).
