Magic Lantern slide circa 1900 hand coloured. Titled Cities and places of interest in the Mediterranean. 14- ANTIBES. This shows us a view of one of the most charming spots in the whole of the delightful neighbourhood of the Riviera. There is no place more beautifully situated than Antibes, jutting out, as it does into the sea, and thereby proving its right to its ancient name of Antipolis, a sentinel, by keeping ward over the other coast towns. It lies on the road between Cannes and Nice—to-which haunt of pleasure we are now rapidly progressing, and, though it can neither lay claim to the aristocratic tone of the former, nor the gaiety of the latter. [B], it is much in favour with many tourists seeking a quiet spot at which to pass the winter.
