Magic Lantern slide circa 1900 hand coloured. created in 1887. A tour of North Wales. 9.The Fairy Glen, Bettws-y-Coed.—This is truly an enchanting spot, and the tourist should spend a good quarter-of-an-hour in feasting his eyes on the beauty of the scene. It is justly named Fairy Glen, for one might almost fancy one saw the whole legion of the airy tribe making merry and skipping about in the sunlight. The prettiest view is that up the Conway, which is here shewn. None should ever leave the neighbourhood of Bettws-y-Coed without visiting this very romantic spot “ The swimming vapour slopes athwart the glen, Puts forth an arm, and creeps from pine to pine, And loiters, slowly drawn. On either hand The lawns and meadow-ledges midway down Hang rich in flowers, and far below them roars The long brook falling thro' the clov'n ravine In cataract after cataract to the sea.”
