Magic Lantern slide circa 1900 hand coloured. created in 1887. A tour of North Wales. 23 Menai Suspension Bridge.—This elegant structure was completed in 1825, having been six years in building, and costing the Government £120,000. The roadway is 1,000 feet in length, and 100 feet above the level of high water. The principles of its construction are now so generally known that lengthy description is needless. From the bridge itself splendid views are ob¬tained up and down the straits, also of the neighbouring Tubular Bridge, but it is from where we stand that the majestic proportions of the Suspension Bridge are best appreciated. Whilst in every part strong and substantial, it so wonderfully displays the perfection of lightness and elegance.
