Magic Lantern slide circa 1900 hand coloured. created in 1887. A tour of North Wales. 22 Beaumaris Castle is the chief attraction in the town. It is a massive and ponderous structure covering a large extent of ground, but is not so imposing as other buildings of the same age. Still it is a fine old place, and a walk through the shrubberies and planta¬tions that surround the ruins is very pleasant. “All the ancient warrior state, Bridge, portcullis, foss and gate, Broken now and desolate. But the ivy's freshest hue Wreathes in green each mouldering tower ; And where cannon wont to lower, There the wild ash struggles through. ”Walking along the promenade one is struck with the picturesque beauty of the surroundings, and the fine range of mountains seen across the straits.
