Magic Lantern slide circa 1900 hand coloured. created in 1887. A tour of North Wales. 19 Bangor—General View,—This ancient city is one of the most important places in North Wales. The name means high or beautiful choir. The town consists mainly of one long street about a mile in length, and is situated near the Menai Straits, of which we get a glimpse. The eastern corner of Anglesey is also seen, and Puffin Island rather faintly to the right. Bangor has a very pleasant situation, and is surrounded on all sides by beautiful scenery. The lodging accommodation is very good, and the place itself is a popular and favour¬ite resort of tourists. The principle building of interest is, of course, the Cathedral, which lays low among the trees near the centre of the town.
