Historical Geography. 1900. India. Himalayan hillmen, they hawk native products among European visitors in Darjeeling. The elder man has a couple of kukris under his arm (knives used for every purpose by the hill-tribes) and his tunic very likely contains some cases of butterflies and a puppy or two. His companion is offering one of the beautifully striped cotton cloths worn by the Lepchas and a Tibetan praying-wheel.
