A field terraced by the Soil Conservation Service
Légende
Kenya, A field is divided into narrow, contoured terraces as part of erosion control measures carried out by the Soil Conservation Service. The organisation was formed in 1938 in response to a series of disastrous droughts, which had accelerated erosion in the region causing major crop failures and loss of livestock.
