Battle of Honey Hill, South Carolina, November 30th, 1864; Confederate earthworks, as well as the location of Union forces at Honey Hill near Grahamville, in Jasper County, S.C. Sherman sent 5,500 Union troops under J.G. Foster inland to secure a foothold on the Charleston and Savannah Railroad. They were met by 1,400 Confederates, heavily entrenched, and forced to withdraw.
