Basin with a boat from the tomb of Tutankhamun, At the front of the boat a young girl is kneeling holding a lotus bud while at the helm the boat is steered by a dwarf figure. The purpose of this artefact is not clear but it has been suggested that it was used as a centrepiece during elaborate ceremonies and banquets. Egypt. Ancient Egyptian. New Kingdom, 18th dynasty, 1333 1323 BC. Material/ Size : Calcite, gold, semi precious stones, ivory and multicoloured glass paste, L=58.3 cm H=37 cm. Thebes, Valley of the Kings, Tomb TV62.
