Woman with an elaborate hairstyle, Gold Coast. Studio portrait of a smartly dressed African woman who wears one or two strip-woven cloth wraps (possibly kente cloth) together with a tailored blouse. Her hair has been fashioned in two steep cylindrical pillars which join together above her head in a sphere. She wears gold bracelets and rings and other jewellery, and holds a furled umbrella. Probably Accra, Gold Coast (Ghana), circa 1918. Ghana, Western Africa, Africa.
