One young person with long hair and decorative cuffs faces three older figures, extending a hand while holding a hat at their side. The three older figures wear long coats and cravats; one central older person holds a cane and a hat and looks toward the young person, while another to the right clasps a hand to the chest and holds a hat at the side. In the background a seated figure watches from near a carved fireplace and a framed portrait partly obscured by a folding screen. Visible furnishings include a carved chair with a draped cloth and a walking cane leaning nearby, and the floorboards and wall decorations are rendered with delicate shading.
