Figures in period dress and armor appear on horseback and on foot in groups in the streets and on bridges, some carrying long spears, while others stand or gesture. Several rectangular and towered stone structures sit surrounded by water with connecting causeways and bridges. Boats with rowers and small groups of people are visible on the waterways. Open ground outside the walls shows a small assembly of riders and a few leafless trees on gently sloping terrain. The scene is rendered with fine hatch and line work and includes detailed roof tiles, windows, crenellations, and rows of soldiers near a gate.
