In the foreground a fallen man lies face up on the floor with one arm outstretched and a helmet beside him. Three standing figures in period clothing and armor are clustered centrally; one man with a feathered helmet holds a sword and gestures with an open hand, another leans forward gripping a dagger and appears to be striking or restraining a bearded man who wears a fur-lined robe and a crownlike headpiece and clutches his chest. Additional armed figures and spears are visible behind them. The floor has woodgrain texture, and a jug sits on a ledge by the left wall.
