Print is part of an album., printmaker: Cornelis Galle (II), Antwerp, after design by Jean Lepautre, after 1650 - before 1678, paper, etching, height 222 mm x width 143 mm, ornaments, art, (decorated) ceiling, Holy Ghost represented as a dove (in flames), A detailed engraved scene shows ornate architectural mouldings and decorative scrollwork framing several sculpted figures; a large winged angel reclines on a ledge with flowing drapery and an arm extended, surrounded by garlands of fruit and foliage. Above, a cherubic figure with wings kneels on an elevated plinth next to a circular wreath of fruit, and a sculpted female bust in draped robes appears within the wreath. To the left, another robust winged figure emerges from an arch, reaching upward beneath an elaborately patterned vaulted ceiling. Additional putti and decorative masks are integrated into the ornamental borders, along with rounded medallions and concentric carved motifs, all rendered in fine, closely hatched lines on a pale background.
