The description is, 1609., the apostle Simon Zelotes (or Simon the Canaanite), possible attributes: book, saw, scroll, A monochrome engraved figure stands barefoot on textured ground, draped in layered robes with a hood covering the head and partially shadowing a bearded profile; one hand rests on a tall serrated saw that extends downward to the ground while the other hand holds a rectangular object against the hip; folds and crosshatching define the fabric and musculature, and small tufts of grass and a low bush appear near the figure’s feet.
