To the right a second young woman in a light dress stands in a doorway with one arm raised and an expressive face. Several uniformed men wearing tricorn hats and military coats stand nearby, two grouped on the left with folded arms and one on the far right near the door, all observing the scene. The floor is rendered with fine hatching and the figures cast subtle shadows, with detailed line work emphasizing fabrics, hair, and facial features.
