The man has light-colored hair styled back with curled sides, a composed facial expression with eyes looking slightly to the viewer's left, and a high collar with a ruffled cravat beneath a dark coat with visible lapels and buttons. The frame features detailed border patterns and rests on a ledge or plinth with a recessed panel beneath, all rendered with fine crosshatching and line work.
