Amsterdam: Johannes Allart, 1786-1809., Person, Jacob Abraham Uitenhage de Mist, A monochrome engraved portrait shows a man in profile facing right inside an oval frame; he has a high forehead, receding hair tied back, and side whiskers, and he wears a dark coat with a high collar and a light cravat at his neck. The oval is set against a textured background with parallel lines, and below the oval is a decorative rectangular panel with lined shading and a smaller blank rectangular inset. The engraving uses fine crosshatching and stippling throughout to render shading and texture.
