The man has short hair, a high collar, and a double-breasted coat with prominent lapels, rendered with fine crosshatching and stippling that define facial features, clothing folds, and shading. The oval frame has concentric carved rings, and below the portrait there is a rectangular recessed panel bordered by patterned lines. The overall image is monochrome, created with intricate line work and tonal variations.
