Amsterdam: Johannes Allart, 1786-1809., Person, Charles William Ferdinand Duke of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel, A framed engraved portrait of a man is centered above a stylized pedestal, the portrait showing the man from the chest up, turned slightly to one side with a composed expression, hair styled and tied at the back with curled side locks, wearing a high collared shirt with a ruffled cravat and a coat fastened with decorative buttons and a sash across the chest; the engraved background inside the frame is finely crosshatched while the outer border and surrounding wall are filled with alternating linear and patterned textures, and the pedestal beneath the frame features layered moldings and recessed panels rendered with parallel and curved linework.
