Amsterdam: Johannes Allart, 1786-1809., Person, Adolph Heinrich Meltzer, A monochrome engraved portrait of a man shown in profile facing left, set inside an oval frame; he has pale, wavy hair styled back and gathered into a curled queue, a smooth forehead, and a straight nose, with a calm expression and a slightly pointed chin. He wears a dark coat with decorative braided trim on the shoulder and a light, pleated neckcloth. The oval is bordered by concentric textured rings and sits against a background of horizontal and crosshatched lines. Below the oval is a rectangular panel with fine vertical hatch lines and bordered by patterned moldings.
