In the foreground a veiled woman in a flowing dress steps forward while an older bearded man in layered robes reaches toward her hand, and beside him a younger robed man extends his hand as well. To their sides stand figures in varied headgear and cloaks, some with solemn expressions and hands clasped, others holding staffs topped with decorative emblems. Behind the main group a bier or platform holds a shrouded, reclining figure with plumes of smoke or cloud curling upward. Children and attendants cluster at the scene’s edge, one carrying a basket of round objects. Trees and textured sky surround the composition, with finely hatched lines defining garments, faces, and the landscape.
