On the left is a person wearing a cap and a buttoned coat with folded arms, a pipe in the mouth, a skirt-like lower garment, and shoes. In the center is a figure wrapped in a dark cloak with a bonnet and a faintly visible face turned slightly downward, hands held near the chest. On the right is a taller figure in a top hat and long coat, one hand in a pocket and the other holding a thin object near the mouth, wearing fitted trousers and pointed shoes. The background includes vertical and horizontal shading suggesting wooden boards and the ground beneath their feet has textured shading and indications of paving. The drawing is rendered in soft pencil or charcoal with visible sketch lines and shading.
