Numbered twice lower left: 26., printmaker: Master of the Dice, Italy, after design by Michiel Coxie (I), c. 1530 - c. 1560, paper, engraving, intaglio printmaking technique, engraving with plate tone, height 194 mm x width 226 mm, A monochrome engraving shows a woman in a flowing dress leaning forward from a ruined stone doorway to offer something to two dogs at the entrance, the woman’s hair is tied back and her posture is bent with one arm extended and the other holding a small vessel; nearby three seated women work with flat trays under a thatched roof and behind them a group of trees rises against a sky filled with stylized clouds, while the foreground contains rocky ground with scattered plants and stones and the architectural setting includes a tall arched recess beside the doorway and a portion of a masonry wall with hanging foliage.
