Among the trees a group of seated and standing figures gather on a grassy terrace, some cloaked and draped in flowing garments, while other solitary figures sit or recline nearby. To the left a classical temple-like structure with columns and steps sits atop a rocky outcrop. In the lower foreground a body of water reflects swans gliding near the bank and grazing animals browse on the grassy shore. A reclining semi-nude figure rests beneath a tree on the right foreground, and a small boat with two figures is visible on a distant river that winds toward a distant landscape with gentle hills and arches. Small birds appear in the sky above and textured strokes suggest clouded sky and distant atmospheric perspective.
