Figures on the shore wear flowing garments and are depicted in various poses including walking, gesturing, and embracing, while some people in small boats appear to be rowing toward the land. In the distance a rocky hill or cliff rises with smoke or mist curling upward, tents and scattered small structures occupy the lowlands, and clouds fill the upper sky. Rocks, shells, and sparse vegetation are visible on the sandy foreground, and the composition emphasizes movement between sea and shore.
