In the midground a small stone building with an arched gateway sits among the trees on a raised bank. A body of water stretches toward a distant shoreline with low hills and a cluster of buildings on the horizon. Two small figures stand near the water’s edge, one seated and playing a flute while the other stands holding a staff. Herd animals graze and drink at the water and wander along the foreground path. Birds fly in the sky above, and scattered rocks and low bushes dot the foreground. The overall image is rendered with fine, crosshatched pen strokes and wash shading.
