Several editions of this publication have appeared., inn, coffee-house, public house, financial panic, Speculative Market of 1720, Amsterdam, Kalverstraat, Koffiehuis Quincampoix, Period, An ornate engraved scene shows a large interior framed by decorative scrolling foliage, with a high arched doorway and tall multi-pane windows; inside and on the steps before the doorway a crowd of men in period clothing and tricorne hats stand, walk, converse, and gesture, some carrying papers or instruments while a few figures lie or kneel on the floor; above the arch a carved mask and a small banner are integrated into the ornamentation, and a chandelier hangs inside; surrounding the central scene are vignettes and emblematic figures set among shells, a ship on the water, rocky outcrops, reclining figures, and small scenes of people in various activities, all rendered in fine line work and stippling with shading and crosshatching.
